Andrew's Seminary Graduation

Andrew graduated from seminary last night at the Washington East Stake Center. We are so proud of all the work and diligence that was put into achieving this goal for Andrew. We know it wasn't easy or the most exciting of classes, but Andrew has done it.

Following are some quotes by some of our prophets regarding the importance of seminary.

“Every class in Primary, Sunday School, seminary-each priesthood assignment-has had a larger application. Silently, almost imperceptibly, a life is molded, a career commences, a man is made.” (President Thomas S. Monson, Priesthood Profiles, New Era, June 1987, 4).

“I hope every one of you goes to seminary. I am glad you do. It is good for you. Go there to learn and become acquainted with the gospel. Some day every one of you is going to have to defend this Church, to explain it to others. Now is the time to prepare” (Gordon B. Hinckley, 'Messages of Inspiration from President Hinckley', Church News, Aug. 3, 1996, 2).

“We must balance our secular learning with spiritual learning. You young men should be as earnest in enrolling in seminary and learning the scriptures as you are in working toward high school graduation. Young adults enrolled in universities and colleges or other postsecondary training should avail themselves of the opportunity to take institute of religion courses or, if attending a Church school, should take at least one religion course every term. Joining our spiritual education to our secular learning will help us keep focused on the things that matter most in this life.
